The cat suit is a tight-fitting garment of stretchy material that covers the body from the shoulders to the thighs. It may have long sleeves or legs reaching down to the ankles. The suits are sometimes worn for dance and exercises where you'd need a lot of flexibility in clothing, such as ballet dancers and acrobats. In 1774 Christian Ernst Schreck, a very skilled knit-master, started to produce trikot-costumes for the theatre. The first factory for stage wear was founded in 1870 by his great-grandson, Carl Ernst Schreck. The family still follow this tradition up to the present day.
