Egyptian-born Suarès is reported to have said of his youth: " I was never allowed a cat or a car in my homeland, so when I came to the United States I got a cat and a Rolls-Royce. Then I started to multiply everything...my record number of cats is thirteen and my record number of Rolls-Royces is nineteen."
